Jason Cooke

No stranger to the stage, Jason has been writing and performing music and poetry since 1985 including a UK tour supporting Hawkwind!

Jason performed his first stand up gig in April 2001, and since then has been working extremely hard on the northwest circuit with his high octane blend of musical parodies, quick fire one liners, tall tales and an impressive collection of animal porn books from the charity shop he works in.

As well as being a performer, Jason is known on the circuit for being involved in organising and promoting clubs including The Comedy Balloon, XS Malarkey and the Wildcat. He is regularly in demand for his compering.

As well as the above, he has helped write and host comedy workshops in the Shetland Islands alongside promoter Alan Anderson and fellow comic Alex Boardman, and was part of the four strong team including fellow comedians Des Sharples, Tony Boloney, Joey Jackson, who set the Guinness World Record for the most comedians on one bill, raising £1500 for Christie's Against Cancer in the process.

Competitions include Altrincham's Bar 41 New Comedian of the Year 2001 and winner of the inaugural ’king Gong night at the Comedy Store.

Television credits include The Frog, a one-off half hour comedy by Steve Harris and Scott Price (Channel M), Having a Pop, a series of music based comedy sketches hosted by Radio 1's Mark and Lard. He played Morrissey hosting his own mobile disco on Play UK.

Also The Bet, a BBC funded short film written and directed by Jason Wingard. He also contributed music to the soundtrack. This was shown at the Cornerhouse, Manchester, as part of a recent festival of up-and coming filmmakers.

Jason also appeared in 2002 on Stand Up Britain, a series of stand-up shows on ITV.

He is a regular contributor to Justin Moorhouse’s (Phoenix Nights) Key 103 show and is a panelist on Roland Gent's show on WFM.

"More off-the-wall than a one legged hod carrier." - Metro News

"Cooke takes comedy down a back alley and gives it a good kicking. Dripping with charisma Jason takes you on a somewhat frightening ride through his slightly warped view of the world. From his animal porn that he collects from the charity shop he works in, to the zealous hatred of anyone called Jeremy. A superb performer." - XS Malarkey
